What we've learnt by having funny On Hold Audio

Hopefully you've seen our On-Hold Promo Video (if not, why not follow this link now!) we've had a great reaction from everyone who's seen it so we thought we'd see what the reaction of callers is when they hear it On-Hold.

You know you're doing something right when...

So we uploaded it to our VoIP system and the very first caller who heard it asked to be put back On Hold so she could let the rest of the office hear it!

What a reaction, but it's no fluke.

It works because we're laughing at ourselves. Our business is writing and producing On-Hold Marketing Audio so opening our On-Hold Song with the line 'Oh it's furstrating being on hold...' was a little risky but callers get it and it makes them laugh! 


Make your callers laugh while On-Hold

If you could make every one of your callers smile or even laugh out loud (as some of ours have) then you're creating or reinforcing the bond you have with them. We also hope it shows we're good at what we do you would employ a web designer with a rubbish website would you!

We Don't Put People On-Hold For Long

Everyday when we're talking to potential clients about the benefits of On-Hold Marketing, you can guarantee that we hear:

"We don't put people On-Hold for long"

No, you might not, but you do place them On-Hold almost every time they call and that time soon adds up!

Average Client Hold Time

Lets take your average client, I know, no client is average but stick with me...

Say Mr or Mrs Average Client calls you three times a week.  Every time Mr or Mrs Average Client calls they're placed On-Hold, and on average they spend 30 seconds holding each time...

...that's 90 seconds a week...

...which adds up to 6 and a half minutes per month... 

...or 1 hour and 18 minutes On-Hold per year!

Now imagine that you have 100 calls like this per week.  That's well over 100 hours of very cost effective advertising and promotion for your business.  Can you afford not to be making the most of this opportunity? 

OK, we made some assumptions, Mr or Mrs Average Client doesn't have holidays and calls you 52 weeks of the year, but you get the idea.

Here's a compilation of our lunchtime statistics from Twitter over past 2 weeks:

On-Hold Marketing Stats:

  • 70% of business calls are placed on-hold
  • 20% of callers make a buying decision after hearing an On-Hold Marketing Message
  • Executives spend 15 minutes a day On-Hold... That's 60 hours per year!
  • 70% of callers will hang up after 30 seconds of silence while holding the line
  • 34% of callers who hang up while holding the line, will not call back!
  • 88% of callers prefer On-Hold Messages to other options.
  • After 1 minute and 55 seconds of hold time most callers hang up annoyed, a US study has found.
  • On average 94% of marketing budgets are spent on getting customers to pick up the phone...
  • And on average only 6% of company marketing budget is spent on handling phone calls.
